8th grade Toronto Trip – Day 2
October 20, 2011 at 8:40 am | Posted in Curriculum | Leave a commentToday, we awoke at 6:45 to get ready for our guided tour of Toronto. At 9:00 we got on our tour bus for the tour. The guild leader Berry shows us some cool things in the city of Toronto. We saw the city hall (the one that had the nail music wall) The parliament building, and some of the many ethnic villages in Toronto.
Our first stop was at the city hall. The building had a small circular shape, with two large towers as if they were holding the dome in its “hands.” inside of the building there was a mural made of nails. Berry told us that if you dropped a coin, that the nails would make sounds. Later on after we finished playing with the mural, we walked to the other side, where there was a layout of the city. I thought that it was amazing how large the city is. We walked out to go to our next destination, the Parliament building.
The parliament building was a grand and magnificent building resembling a castle. We had an issue getting a place to get off, but we managed to pull it off. We entered the building and were guided into a small area on the right wing. We saw a map of the province of Ontario. Berry talked about the Yonge Street that starts in Toronto, and ends at the Ontario Manitoba(?) border.
We were going around some of the ethnic parts of the city. On our way to our lunch destination, we passed China Town. We got off the bus to do a little sightseeing there. When we finished, we were on our way to Little India. We had lunch at an Indian restaurant. I thought that was a great way to experience new foods, and cultures.
